How cool would it be if you were in a rock band? Band rehearsals once a week and then a gig, featuring you, at a cool local place? We have just the opportunity for you in one of our Rock Band Workshop Classes.
These classes are made up of students under the guidance of a seasoned pro. These classes give students who want to play in a rock band, the opportunity to learn essential skills they need. Through learning cover tunes and writing songs, students read chord charts, work with other musicians, learn about band equipment, band promotions and play a show. The skills they gain through these classes are invaluable and will not only make them better musicians, but teach them how to have a band of their own.
With such busy schedules, it is hard to put a band together, run rehearsals and plan gigs. We make it easy by doing all the work. All you have to do is show up with your instrument and play.
The Mike Risko Music School offers these classes for kids, teens and adults. Bands are put together based on age and level. All instruments and voice are welcome to sign up. In addition, we offer a special program for already formed bands who need some guidance and have specific goals. These classes are offered during the school year and during the summer. Workshops for Kids
Kids have all kinds of opportunities these days to learn new things. Now, at the Mike Risko Music School, they can have the opportunity to learn how to be in a band. It doesn't just take being a good musician to be in a band. It takes the ability to collaborate, the ability work together as a team and the ability to learn to shine together as a group and as an individual within a group. These are just some of the skills kids will aquire in one of our Rock Band Workshops. Under the guidance of a musical coach, kids will play their instrument of choice in a band of their own as they prepare for their very own gig in just 7 weeks.

Workshops for Adults
The Rock Band Workshops for adults are offered in the evenings at the Mike Risko Music School. All kinds of people enroll in these classes from all types of career backgrounds, but in the end, it never really matters because they just end up bandmates and friends. Some of the bands stay together and venture off on their own to get gigs and write music while others simply sign up again hoping to run into the same people or meet some new ones along the way. As one band member once said after a gig ".... tomorrow I have to go back to being an accountant."
The greatest part about these classes for adults is they really don't have to spend any time doing any of the work of being in a band. They just have to show up and play, and for someone with a busy career and kids, this is a great gift!
